Treat your mouth at Mauds

Mauds, a small cafe, and part of a major franchise, is situated in the Quayside shopping centre. After nearly a year of catering to the people of Sligo, I decided to see for myself it is was all I'd heard.

When I arrived there, at 1pm, the place was absolutely packed. After waiting a few minutes for a table to free up, another woman asked to sit at my table as there was no room anywhere else. If you're going to eat at Mauds, try not to go during lunch hours, it's just wedged with people, and since there's limited seating capacity, there's a definite chance you won't get seated for half and hour, or at all.

It was a few minutes before the waitress arrived to take our orders, but once she did, there was a very short wait to get our food. I ordered a Tikka Masala Wrap - this is a heated wrap filled with chicken cooked in Tikka Masala sauce topped off with tomatoes, lettuce and red peppers. It came well presented with a side salad, and was absolutely delicious.

Afterwards I ordered an orange juice, which was brought to me promptly, and was also up to scratch.

Overall, the food was fantastic, and the service was good, if not a little slow due to the amount of people waiting for their food and the fact that there was only one waitress on duty the entire time I was there-another reason not to visit Mauds during the lunchtime rush. The waitress was wonderful, but Mauds definitely need another person taking orders and serving the food, etc.

The bill came to just less than €7.50, which is reasonable for a wrap and drink. So with good prices, great food and pretty good service, I'll definitely be taking another visit before too long.
